Overview
Most trekkers spend years doing Phulara Ridge, then Saru Tal, then a pass trek — as three separate trips. Fachu Kandi Pass gives you all three in one shot. Starting from Sankri — the same base village made famous by Kedarkantha — this trail takes you through a ridgeline walk with 270° Himalayan views, a serene glacial lake almost nobody talks about, and finally a high-altitude pass that connects the Supin Valley to the sacred Yamunotri Valley. It’s a crossover trek in every sense: two valleys, three landscapes, and more highlights per day than most treks manage in a week.
At 4,356 metres (14,288 ft), the pass itself sits at a moderate altitude — comparable to Hampta or Sar Pass — but don’t mistake accessible for easy. This is a physically demanding trail with long trekking days, remote campsites, and zero crowds. It’s best suited for trekkers with at least one prior Himalayan trek under their belt. If you’re the kind of person who hates doing the same thing twice, Fachu Kandi Pass was made for you.
Highlights
- Three Treks, One Route — Phulara Ridge, Saru Tal, and Fachu Kandi Pass all rolled into a single 8-day adventure. It's genuinely rare value for a Himalayan trek.
- Phulara Ridge — A Sky Walk — A high-altitude ridge walk with open views of Swargarohini, Bandarpunch, Kalanag, and Gangotri peaks on both sides. No tree cover, just you and the Himalayas.
- Saru Tal — The Lake Nobody Talks About — A pristine alpine lake at 4,150 m, surrounded by a natural ridge on one side and wildflowers in season. Quiet, beautiful, and almost always empty.
- A True Valley Crossover — You start in the Supin Valley and end in the Yamunotri Valley. The feeling of physically crossing from one world into another is hard to beat.
- Virgin Trails & Zero Crowds — Unlike Kedarkantha or Har Ki Dun, you'll rarely meet another trekking group on this route. This is still genuine off-the-beaten-path Himalayan territory.
